System Restore only restores settings, not deleted files. If you have Norton you might be able to get them back using the protected trash bin.
Doing a system restore may have wiped out any hope of restoring deleted files due to the fact that it writes a huge amount of data. You can try recovery software since there may be a slim chance.
A system restore only restores the registry settings and files that are critical to Windows operation. It does not restore data files. As most people have a couple dozen restore points on their PC, they would have to also have a couple dozen copies of every picture, music file, video, letter, email ,etc. on their PC for the system restore to be able to put them back. They would be out of hard drive space in the first week.
System restore does not restore deleted data. Sorry.
There may be something of use here.
That is dependent upon whether or not the files were over written. However, as has been mentioned, your computer probably has several copies of those files somewhere, either in restore points or possibly within a compressed files. That being said, it is also important to note that the longer you wait to recover files the less chance you have of finding them intact.
I would definitely try to make use of file recovery software. I know in the past I have made use of StompSoft’s Recover Lost Data to recover my picture files off my PC. Of course I don’t wait very long to recover them once I know that something is wrong.
